There is a stone historical marker standing in the park of Chinatown. The text carved on the marker states: This was the place the first American flag was raised in San Francisco. Every day, in front of the stone, a group of elderly Chinese women were sitting and playing cards, gambling for a few cents. I also played cards with the students under the American flag next to the Golden Gate Bridge. In fact, they did not know how to play. Then, I ended up accomplishing a pedagogical work of card playing.
