Lin Yilin was born in Guangzhou in 1964, China, and lives and works in New York and Guangzhou.

 

He Co-founded of "Big-Tail-Elephant” Group in 1990 and has participated in Cities on the Move in 1997, the 2nd Johannesburg Biennale in 1997, the 1st Taipei Biennale in 1998, the 4th Gwangju Biennale in 2002, the 50th Venice Biennale in 2003, Documenta 12 in 2007, the 10th Lyon Biennale in 2009, the 12th Swiss Sculpture Exhibition in 2014, the 56th Venice Biennale in 2015 and the 12th Havana Biennale in 2015. His works were showed in the Kunsthalle Bern, the Guggenheim Museum and the MoMA PS1 and the Asia Society Museum in New York, the Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco, the Hayward Gallery in London, M+ in Hong Kong and MAXXI in Rome.

 

Lin’s conceptual practices have always been an energetic and witty mingling of social architecture and everyday life. He is recognized for a practice that embraces sculpture, installation, photography to live action and video featuring outdoor performances.
